Research

Here is the research for my tourism ad project.

1. Who is the target audience?

This ad is targeted towards any gender appropriate, any age appropriate (most likely above the 20s). Those who may be either single, bored, or unemployed.

2. How is this audience usually targeted?

Most ads like their targeted audience to see through online websites such as pop-up ads, which can automatically show up as they are scrolling to social media or any internet websites.

3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way?

This advertisement conform the normal way because most travel advert would show different places in the location, and that's what the video showed. On the other hand, the video is subverted because usually, travel ads would have a longer scene on each location or a label on where that place is to make it clear of the features of the place.

4. What images or locations were used to appeal to the audience?

Some of the locations shown in this ad includes entertainment places, such as sports field, night club. It also shows both quiet and crowded places to appeal to a wider range of different types of audiences.

5. What sounds/music were used to appeal to target the audience?

The music used for this ad has a continuous beat that is synchronized to the constant change of the locations filmed. By following the beat of the music (quick beat), the ad shows that there are many different placed in that location.

6. What people were shown in the ad, and how do they appeal to the audience?

The ad shows an adult man/traveler who seemed enthusiastic about travelling, he seemed like he's enjoying to travel to those locations, which could make the audience believe that those places can bring excitement and happiness.

7. What is the message of this advert?

This ad is meant to show the range and quantity of different places that are able to be found in Australia.

1. Who is the target audience?

This ad is targeted towards young tourist (mostly girls) who are interested in trying activities they see on the internet. It is also targeted to tourist who loves K-pop groups such as New Jeans, which again would usually be teenagers and young adults, those who would like to travel with their friends.

2. How is this audience usually targeted?

These types of audience are usually targeted by having their idols or favorite celebrities on the ad, making it easy to remember for the audience.

3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way?

This advertisement conform the normal way because some travel adverts would usually share recommendations on activities to do while visiting the country, and this video actually shows a wide range of activities that are unique to do in Korea. On the other hand, this ad subverts the standard expectation of a tourism ad because this ad is using Korean language, which most parts of the world do not understand. Although it has English subtitles, it would be harder for the audience to look back and forth to the texts and the visuals.

4. What images or locations were used to appeal to the audience?

This ads shows different must-do activities in Korea such as personal color analysis, photo booths, esports match experience, and many more.

5. What sounds/music were used to appeal to target the audience?

The music used for this ad has a hype beat that makes the video outgoing and exciting, which represents the activities shown on the video.

6. What people were shown in the ad, and how do they appeal to the audience?

The ad shows a young adult girl who seemed confused on what to do in Korea, and a K-pop group called New Jeans, which is famous among people their age.

7. What is the message of this advert?

This ad is meant to show the audience things to do, and that these activities are a must-dos when planning a trip to Korea.

Self Reflection: Throughout the process of this project, my weekly progress didn't really go as my weekly plans because I have other assignments to do that overlaps with my media studies plan and it's making it very difficult to keep up on track with the timeline of this project.

Project Brief

Here is the brief for my tourism ad project.

Self Reflection: I am honestly excited for this project because it's going to be my first media studies project. I've got a bunch of ideas and I hope everything would go as what we plan.
